I've been doing genealogical research for about a year and a half now. It began when I started researching the origins of the Wichita Children's Home. During that process, I was reminded of my interest in my own family. Years ago I had written some family tree notes from information that my maternal grandmother had. I've kept it this whole time, so I got it out and started building my tree from that.
On my father's side, I borrowed the book that one of his sisters put together to start from. Then I joined www.Ancestry.com. My membership with them has been off and on because of the cost, but I was happy to discover that I can still access my family tree even when I'm not a paying member. I just can't get any info from the waving leaves.
